PHP is a server-side language, and as such only a certain number of servers can be fully supported by it. Most PHP servers only have one or two features that are available. These features are usually implemented as classes, and they are made available to other servers by their respective classes. The PHP language itself is not very well documented, so you can’t just read it and figure it out, no. There is a lot of guesswork involved in programming with PHP.
The problem is that PHP has no easy way of identifying the classes that will be needed to implement a feature. So you have to do some sort of “dynamic” class inheritance tree. PHP has a few of these, and they are fairly easy to implement.
