While we’ve discussed many ways of formatting dates, this one is a little different and goes a little deeper.
The date format is actually an important consideration for Google (and other search engines). Because the date field is a date/time value, it is a valuable indicator of the importance of a given web page in Google’s eyes. Because the date is a time value, we can assume more about the date it is using when we look at it.
It’s important to remember that the date is only a date, not a time tag. The date format is also a useful indicator of Google’s algorithm for determining the right date format for a search query.
So, for example, the date format “MM/DD/YYYY” is a very common format for dates on the web, but it’s also the date format Google uses for the search queries “May 5, 2009”. There are a couple of important things to remember about date formats. First, you should always include the year (which is a year value) in your date format, but only if the date is a year date.
The fact is that the number of years in your date format is the most important factor in determining the right date format for a search query. If you want to avoid the need for a year-value, you can use a year, but I’m not sure it’s the right date format for a search query.
If you have a date format of YYYY/MM/DD then the year value will be automatically calculated by Google and will be used in the query to determine your answer. If you want to use a year with a value greater than 2000, you can use a year with a value less than 2000.
The most popular date formats for Google are YYYYMMDD and YYYYMMDD. The reason for this is that it’s the easiest format to read and type into Google. The YYYYMMDD format is used by many calendar and spreadsheet programs and is more compact.
I love reading Google’s internal dates, and this is one example of why. This is also why you should never use the default date format of YYYYMMDD. Google’s internal date format is way more confusing then you think.
You can use a year in any format, from the year you buy a new computer, a day of work, or a period of time. The best formats for Google are YYYYMMDD and YYYYMMDD. The YYYYMMDD format is great for a month of dates, because it is quick and easy to read and type into Google. The YYYYMMDD format is great for two or three months of dates.
